“Music, great prizes, and a cotillion”

This is how the dancing parties and entertaining events of the 18th century were advertised in the streets.

And cotillions were surprising gifts that were distributed at the end of the dance.

It is with this slogan, or let’s call it a superstitious wish, that I want to begin this Gazette, fresh from the press.

If Gourmode was born many years ago as a virtual space in which I gave voice to my taste and my thoughts, today it is much more and for this reason, I can not stop telling you great little stories, or rather have them told by those who over time have become part of this gourmet à la mode world.

I imagine welcoming you in a cozy, surreal place suspended between dream and reality, by letting you in through a door whose handle is decorated with a lion’s head.

Knock twice and say the secret word.

Un foyer teatrale opens magnificently in front of your eyes, a marble chequered floor at your feet, gleaming chandeliers, two imposing flights of stairs that fan out, and at the last step three large velvet curtains conceal your next adventures. Which will you choose?

Behind the first curtain hides a living room with a muffled atmosphere. Chips and playing cards are scattered on the tables, emerald resin dice are lightly rolled and glasses of champagne clink with sparkle… between toasts, chats and a bite of a Saint Honoré, George juggles tables and goliardic diners holding trays with golden cloches and plateaus of fresh oysters.

It’s time to sneak a peek behind the second velvet damask curtain, where a ballroom awaits you for a playful dance in which you will have to display the art of courtship in sophisticated gowns, smoking with Prince Albert Slippers and silk and feather train, leaving a trail of amber and patchouli scent.

Beyond the third, you suddenly float in the void, among hot-air balloons and exotic hummingbirds. You don’t necessarily have to go very far to travel within your imagination, which will take you from the local bottega to the other side of the world.

Each issue of this Gazette will be a celebration… we promise you great prizes and a cotillion.
